…with my new Huskystar!
It’s a beginner’s machine from Husqvarna. I’ve been researching a new machine since I’ve decided that my alley-found machine is unfortunately a dud. I wasn’t planning on buying it today, but it was only $199 and the boys were being so good I decided to get it while I had the chance. We had La Leche League tonight so I haven’t even had the time to get it out of the box yet, but I’m pretty excited to get started.
I’ve also received a box of books from Crafter’s Choice. I joined up with them, and I feel guilty about it. I really try to support my LYS and local book stores, but sometimes there are so many books I’d like to pick up but don’t have the cash. Their introductory offer of four books for a dollar each is hard to pass up. So I got:
The Happy Hooker (yup, Grandma Tillie, I’m gonna crochet!)
Sensational Knitted Socks
The Knitting Answer Book
Inspired Cable Knits
Yarn Girls Guide to Beyond the Basics
all for $25, with one more book to buy.
I am so close to finishing the toe on my Jang cotton/wool sock. Maybe tonight, if Knittybaby decides he’ll sleep for me.
Glad you all enjoyed my bat drama. Rabies was one of the things that freaked me out as a rabid bat was found in a nearby park a few years ago. I actually managed to coax Basil upstairs so I could make her hide out in the bedroom with Arthur. She was not thrilled when she realized she’d left the bat downstairs!

Woohoo for a new sewing machine! I have a Viking machine, a step or two up the scale from yours, and I love it. I’m sure you’ll love yours as well 🙂
Nice sewing machine! It will make such a difference for you! When my son was little I used to go buy lots of stretch knit fabric at SR Harris and make him shorts and pjs. It was a ton of fun and I could make cute combos for very little money. I kinda miss sewing.
I am sure you will love your machine, I just don’t know what I would do with out mine. Also, this Crafter’s Choice thing is very interesting.
Great machine! Glad the bat didn’t cause too much havoc (you know, like biting one of you; rabies, not good and neither are the shots after you’ve been bitten).
Nice machine, I wish I could sew. I’m good with a glue gun, does that count.
Nice!!!!!! I might sew more if I had an upgraded machine. Enjoy!
Nice machine – I like new machines.
I had to laugh at the Crafter’s Choice bit – I did the same thing Sunday night. I just can’t remember which books I ordered, though I know the socks one was in there.
yay you! sewing machine love – a swede for you!!!!!!!! can’t wait to see all the coolness you make!
Wow good luck with the new machine! I’m still barely on speaking terms with mine :o)
What are you going to make first?
Congrats on the new sewing machine. I love my Viking!
I have a basic sewing machine, but I’m not very good at sewing. I read your post about the bat — my brother had a bat in his house the other week. It was in his closet where his work clothes are, and he wouldn’t go in to get them! He called in that he couldn’t come to work until our cousin came down and got the bat out of the house! It’s weird because our cousin had just had a bat in his house, too.
Totally cool about the new sewing machine! I’ve also taken my sewing machine out of storage recently and have been muddling through a few projects. I’m *such* a better knitter, but I want to get better at sewing too! Can’t wait to see you later this week!
Congrats on the sewing machine and the books. I periodically join and quit Crafter’s Choice myself… even tho I totally believe in supporting local stores…
