I had wanted to show you all this:
But instead I have to deal with this:
Never ever, EVER, no matter how sweetly he asks you, never let your four year old help you ply.
I’m going to cry some more and continue the hours of untangling.

Aw,that’s too bad. At least he’s interested, though, right?
I don’t even have a witty comment. Good luck with the detangling. I’ll be thinking good thoughts for you. Holy cow…
Oh no… My sympathies.
I don’t have a witty comment either – perhaps you could find an artisan to make a child friendly spinning arrangement?
Not fun. I plyed today too. I set Andrew’s chair in front of my spinning wheel and to the side and told him he could watch from there if he wanted to. Thankfully, he was happy with that.
Oh what a shame! I bet he felt bad about it too. The hours I’ve spent grappling with toddler-tangles …
Hang in there Knittymama! Some day he’ll be grown and you will laugh about this, I promise, even if right now it makes you want to cry and I know you don’t want to hear a bunch of trite reassurance, but…take some deep, cleansing breaths, and remember…it’s a long life and it’s only yarn…but doesn’t it make you just want to scream!?
Ohhhh you poor thing… I completely understand….my little handsome has a wool fetish which results in many hours of detangling until I got him his own stash…aha!!
luv Abby
Gee, I don’t see the problem. 🙂 I just got a spindle over the weekend, and tried plying for the first time last night and it looks pretty much exactly like that! 🙂
I am twitching in sympathy here.
Damn. Good luck.
Alas!!!
OH, my. I had to deal with the same situation last week, only it was freshly dyed yarn and an almost-four year old. Who desperately wants a playdate with your four. We should go to the splash pad – it’s free! This Thursday would work for us, or Monday Tuesday or Thursday next week.
Noooooooooooo!! (oh, and don’t let your cat help, either. trust me.)
no clever solution just sympathy [ or is it empathy? … not sure ]
anyway Good Luck.
Oh no! I might cry just looking at it! Gorgeous singles, though…
Oh KnittyMama. You are such a great Mom to let him try.
Best of luck with the untangling and we will wait for the big yarn shopping reveal when you are ready.
Ooooh, ouch! It’s things like this that are the reason the spinning wheel stays put away while the kids are up.
