Your stories are so entertaining that we should keep the contest going for one more week! We’ve had some really great entries so far and I have to say I’m not feeling quite so silly about my Anouk. You guys are great! (Doesn’t she just look entertained? I know, she looks like she wants to bite someone but it was the best shot I could get. She’s really quite the sweetheart)
So for those of you who are just returning from the cabin, the beach, just getting caught up, or visiting for the first time, you’ve got until next Friday now to tell me your biggest knitting goof up, and the alpaca could be yours!! (Not a real alpaca, of course, just yarn, but hey, how many entries do you think I would get if I was giving away a REAL alpaca? I would shatter the blogosphere for sure.)
Anyway, do tell and have a great, and hopefully cool, weekend!
That’s a great picture, actually!! Hmm, I wonder if I can get such a picture of Chaos… Hmm…
Everyone is making me feel lots better about my own knitting mistakes!
I made a really dumb mistake very recently! In fact, I had a little “find the heinous error!” contest on my blog. 😉 I decided to put on my smarty pants and knit Trellis in one piece so I wouldn’t have to seam it — and I inadvertently reversed the directiosn for the right and left fronts. So my button bands were next to the side “seams” instead of on the edges where they belonged. Doh! I didn’t realize it until I’d already bound off for the armholes.

Sad, sad, sad. Knitting Darwin Award, right here, 😉
OK, I’ve got one for you.
I was making an afghan for my niece’s graduation. It was my first afghan, I was making it out of Lion Brand Homespun. I didn’t do a gauge swatch because I’m ALWAYS right on. So I ran out of yarn and it was only three feet long. But it was eleven feet wide. It was two feet wider than her dorm room. Maybe I should have noticed there was a problem earlier?
How’s your baby doing? I’ve been thinking about you often and beaming good wishes to you.
